HBS Social Enterprise Field Study Program
As part of their elective curriculum, second-year MBA students have the opportunity to apply their skills to the real-world challenges facing social enterprises. HBS faculty develop top-quality projects with an organization's CEO and other senior managers. Under faculty supervision, each team of three to six students works on a project of strategic importance to the organization and reports its recommendations at the end of the term. During the past two years, Social Enterprise Field Study sites have included the Pine Street Inn, New York City Investment Fund, America's Promise, and the New England Conservatory of Music. While most field studies are initiated by faculty or students, organizations can also post opportunities. HBS Leadership Fellows Program
The HBS Leadership Fellows Program gives a select group of graduating HBS students the chance to make an impact in nonprofit and public-sector organizations at a competitive salary for one year. HBS identifies top-tier organizations, works with them to develop high-value positions, supplements the salaries paid, and provides fellows professional development and networking opportunities. HBS Leadership Fellows Program sites have included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Junior Achievement, City of Boston Mayor's Office, and Teach for America. The Program committee receives more organization proposals than it can accept each year. Participating organizations are chosen through a selective process, based on the scope and nature of the proposed position, capacity of the organization for utilizing leadership and management skills, and potential interest from students.
